Steady progress at West Quay of Terminal One

In its bid to consolidate it's competitive edge withing the Mediterranean transhipment arena, the Freeport is undergoing a number of development and infrastructural works.  One of these is the extension of the West Quay of Terminal One.  

Works on the development the West Quay of Terminal One have now commenced in earnest and works are progressing at a steady and sustained pace.  This quay, which was previously being utilized as a lay-by berth, will be extended from the present length of 168 metres to a total length of 290 metres and will also include a Ro-Ro ramp at the south-east corner . This Quay will be equipped with 2 post-Panamax Quayside Cranes whilst the depth of this quay will be increased from - 9 metres to - 13 metres LAT thus enabling a berthing draught of 12.5 metres. Furthermore, the Company also intends to purchase another four super post-Panamax Quayside Cranes capable of reaching 25 containers across.
