Malta Freeport Terminals is participating once again in European Week for Waste Reduction being held between the 16th and 24th November with the theme of this year being waste education and communication. The slogan for this year is: Change your ways, Reduce your waste. EWWR 2019 is challenging each one of us to change our own habits first and then inspire others to follow suit.
Freeport staff from various departments will be embracing this challenge and a number of employees will also be participating in a teambuilding activity which the Company is organising to encourage the employees to Reduce their waste in everyday life. The actions that will be implemented in the EWWR will address the “3Rs”: Reduce waste, Reuse products, Recycle material.
Staff will also take part in a clean-up activity at Birzebbuga which the Company will be organising with the Local Council of Birzebbuga.
Waste Separation Management System is in place at Malta Freeport Terminals, where waste including metal, rubber, paper, oil drums, wood and cardboard is separated and disposed of responsibly. Malta Freeport considers the “3Rs” options first when implementing its waste management strategy.
