Maiden call in Malta by the CMA CGM Rivoli

Breaking more records… the CMA CGM Rivoli – making her first stop in Europe on her maiden voyage – arrived at Malta Freeport Terminals with 20,828 TEU containers on board: the largest number any of the shipping line’s vessels have carried in a single lift. This 400-metre-long ship is the fifth of nine LNG-powered 23,000 TEU super container ships ordered by CMA CGM from the China State Shipbuilding Corporation and the third ship from the series built by Hudong-Zhonghua. CMA CGM expects to take delivery of four more sister ships in the first half of this year. By 2022, CMA CGM will own 26 LNG-powered ships – which emit up to 20% less CO2 than conventional fuel-powered systems – as part of its transition to becoming carbon-neutral by 2050. The CMA CGM Rivoli is operating on CMA CGM’s flagship route-French Asia Line (FAL1) connecting Europe to Asia, which includes Malta Freeport.
