op performer… #MaltaFreeportTerminals is proud to be featured by Lloyd’s List One Hundred Ports 2022 among the top 10 performing ports last year. Freeport CEO Alex Montebello said this is a significant achievement which consolidates Malta Freeport’s position as a leading transhipment hub in the Mediterranean. Despite the global maritime industry facing a challenging 2021 characterised by congestion and disruption, Malta Freeport Terminals still managed to register an increase of 21.6% in throughput over 2020, handling almost three million TEU containers. The Freeport has been transformed into state-of-the-art facility in recent years thanks to a strategic investment programme aimed at acquiring the very latest equipment and technology. Mr Montebello praised all staff at the Freeport – including port workers, subcontractors, service providers and management – for their hard work and dedication to providing clients with the best possible service. He also thanked the Freeport’s main clients, #CMACGM and #MSC, for entrusting the facility with significant throughput and said he looks forward to continuing to build on the Terminal’s successes.
