Malta Freeport Terminals recognises the importance of blood donation and the Company recently organised another blood donation drive in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Services. This initiative is organised on an annual basis as part of the Freeport’s corporate social responsibility programme to further raise awareness and help ensure that a safe blood supply is readily available for those who need it.
This year, a good number were first-time donors who were encouraged by their colleagues who donate blood on a regular basis. Such an initiative also reaches out to new blood donors who although willing to donate blood might find it difficult to visit the National Blood Transfusion Unit. The Freeport was appreciative of employees’ commitment to support this noble cause despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Tony Micallef, Practice Nurse (Donor Liaison) at National Blood Transfusion thanked Malta Freeport Terminals’ management and employees for their generous response to donating blood on a regular basis as blood donations continue to have a significant impact on many, and it can be a lifesaving action.
Apart from Malta Freeport Terminals’ employees other individual were encourage to donate blood including employees from Malta Freeport Corporation and Oiltanking Malta Limited.
The Blood Donation Centre is located in front of St. Luke’s Hospital and is open daily from Monday to Sunday including Public Holidays from 08:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs.
